We're living life and not blogging about it so much. Maybe because the week has been less crafty? Anyway, here's some of what we've been up to.
taking light rail downtown to the Science Center
marveling at how nature contains both math and art and seeing where else fractals can be found. There's a great Nova episode on fractals in the natural world that we've watched several times, thanks to Tivo.
practicing good knife skills with the produce from the farmer's market - so much bounty is coming home with us each week that we're doing some planning ahead and freezing of things. I can't say no to a pretty vegetable.
drawing from the yard.
Oh, and we're overwhelmed with lemons. There have to be 200 more of them on our tree, so we're squeezing and freezing juice and zest, making cookies and cakes and using it in pretty much every meal we make (lemon and brussels sprouts = yum). Lemonade is always in the fridge. Oh, and grapefruit too, because we're swapping lemons for grapefruit and oranges. If anyone has a favorite lemon recipe, please feel free to leave it in the comments.
LEMONS!!!
And lemonade -- the perfect way to enjoy some down time amid your glorious days of just being.

I can't say no to a pretty veggie either.
oh, lemons... :) that makes me happy to hear about your lemons. you should try making lemon curd. And send me some. Although I doubt it ships very well.

You have offically made me really miss my lemon tree! My kids would eat them fresh off the tree.... I loved mine dipped in a little sugar.
Wish I could give you a lemon recipe but it sounds like you are already making all of the things we used to make with our mass producing tree!
Love the veggie pics!

Lovely post - a little glimpse into your lemony life.

Well, like has sure given you lemons in a good way! I would love to tough, smell, taste a yellow lemon right now...here in the Midwest it is -10 degrees (-27 wind chill)! As Emily said - are you shipping? Paypal lemons, or I could send you some ice to make lemon ice. I really enjoy your blog.

hit the post key a little too quick of course I meant "life" (like) and touch (tough)- forgive me my hands are numb - it's sooooo cold even inside

oh what I would give for a tall glass of lemonade rather than a mug of hot chocolate that I'm really getting tired of!

My daughter made Preserved Lemons for Christmas this year, and gave them to everyone in these beautiful jars. They are gorgeous. I haven't tried mine yet, but plan to make a chicken dish with them this weekend. Here's a link: http://www.elise.com/recipes/archives/001815how_to_make_preserved_lemons.php
I love your blog! Wish I had a lemon tree!
