People will tell you that I complain about having cold feet. They tell me to go buy some socks. I reply that I have a lot of sock yarn and I should knit socks not buy them. However, I don't knit socks. I *start* socks. I queue sock patterns. I just never get past turning the heel (not even on the first sock). However, my cold feet finally got to me.
So I knit a pair of socks. Keep in mind that these are more of a lounge around the house in front of the fire kind of sock as opposed to a sock that would be worn in shoes. I have discovered that I'll knit socks if I use sportweight yarn and I knit cables. That way they knit up quickly and remain interesting. Also, they're super warm and toasty. I guess I'll have to break down and buy socks for wearing inside shoes. Or get over myself and make friends with my size 0 needles.
I would like you to take a moment to notice that my jeans are tucked into my socks. This is news for a few reasons. 1) I last did this when I was in high school 25+ years ago with ankle zipper jeans, slouchy push down cotton socks, and Reeboks. Classy. 2) I have lost enough weight that skinny jeans can be a part of my wardrobe. This may be a mixed blessing, considering my ambivalence about said skinny jeans at my advanced age. 3) I am buying jeans (and clothes, period) for the first time in about 6 years. This is a good thing. It was pretty sad around here, wardrobe wise. 4) I think that's all that's interesting about my jeans and socks.
More finished projects are on deck. Now I'm going to drink some Evolution and play Apples to Apples with my peeps. I bet my warm feet will lead me to victory.
Project details: Pattern: Uncle Frank by Irish Girlie Knits. Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Heavyweight in Rose Quartz (same as my grandma's socks). Size 4 needles. Modifications: knit the men's gauge (used the yarn for the men's size) but decreased by 4 stitches at the ankle for a narrower ankle and foot. Knit one fewer repeat on the foot to make it the right size. Otherwise knit as written.

Love these and, I have nothing to say about skinny jeans, except, yowza.

Glad you're in skinny jeans. I can't do it. Love your blog, and Evolution, and so glad to see you also have the "cold feet syndrome" like I do. I used the blowdryer on my feet tonite!

Ahhh slouchy cotton socks and side zippers. Where did you buy skinny jeans? I have considered it, although skinny would be relative in my case. Love the socks too. See, it wasn't that bad.

Yay for skinny jeans! Since we moved and I'm not eating so much junk I can wear some from a few years ago (not skinny, but close LOL!) Love your socks too, good for you finishing them :) Enjoy wearing them!

Well, you could do it, but you might be too skinny for skinny jeans. :)
I always have cold feet, but these socks solved the problem. Miss you!

I am terrible about that. I need to do the two socks on two needles thing so I don't get stuck.

It is! And they are so comfortable. I love them.
Posted by: Sarah Jackson | February 07, 2012 at 07:57 AM
Heh. I'm totally going to tight roll some jeans just for you.

Nordstrom. And I think we're about the same size from what E has told me. POV department - these were by Wit & Wisdom. I also have Gap Straight Leg that I love.

Yes, the socks worked -- you won that round of Apples to Apples...if I'd known clothes were the key to winning, I may have altered my wardrobe for that evening's game. And I too love Evolution. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on losing weight (assuming you did it healthfully!). I've still got 3 pounds to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but even if I did manage to lose my muffin top the rest of it has somehow distributed itself all funny. :-)
Oh, and Great socks!
