Thanks so much for the happy wishes everyone! Each comment made me a little happier all weekend. After our last attempt that ended so sadly, this pregnancy has felt like such a gift. I still spend a lot of time being worried, but I'm trying to trust that everything is fine. Just fine.
One way that I'm trying to make this feel more "real" is to make something for the baby. Since we don't know yet whether there's a boy or a girl in there, I dug around for something as gender neutral as I could find in my fabric stash and pulled out my new book.
These are the kimono pajamas in progress. They're size 0-3 months but they still look pretty roomy. Except the bottom - I'm not sure how a cloth diapered behind will fit in there for very long, but that's okay. I'll just cut them a little wider for the next pair. And there will be a next pair. I still need to do the bias binding on the neckline, the hems, and the waistband, so I have a busy afternoon ahead of me. I figure that as long as we're still stuck in the house by the heat (supposedly only 2 more days of this) then I should make good use of my available sewing time. Soon, we'll want to be outside all the time and I cannot wait. Biking, hiking, wandering, sitting on the grass and reading, hanging out on the patio and watching the sun go down. I'm ready for all of it. Bring on those cool 80 degree days.
Oh, and in *very* exciting news, it looks like I have a friend to walk with me on the pregnancy road. I'm so excited for her and her family.
And lest you think we're all baby all the time around here (who has time for that?) I want to point local people to my fall photography sessions. If you schedule an appointment on the designated weekends for yourself, your family, your kids, your dog then I'll waive the customary session fee. There's no obligation to buy unless you love what you see, and there is no minimum order. Turn around time from order to print is less than 2 weeks.
Happy Monday everyone!
Thanks again
Hey Sarah… I did it! I found you and I think I may have even figured out how to sign in! This will be a lovely way to follow you and your talents more closely. You are like a box of chocolates and you bring all kinds of sweet treats to my eyes, and even the way you live is sheer artistry! Lots of Love!

We're supposed to have highs in the low 80's today with low humidity - it feels so good! We've had one HOT September this year. I think we might even eat outside tonight :-)

i made these in a 6-9 month size. they were tight on a disposable diaper, so i imagine you'll have to make 'em pretty roomie.

I figured they'd be worn once or twice at the very newborn stage and then
lovingly put away. I'm definitely going to make the next pair wider. My
babies have round booties as it is.
