And it is yellow.
I'd say the yellow is a little more, well, yellow than these photos, but it's pretty close - it's a pale lovely yellow (that mantle wall was RED). Now we move on to hanging art and casting a painting eye at the kitchen walls and the guest bedroom. Also, this room needs new curtains as does the dining room. Those white curtains have been there since 1987. I met the woman who made them. I have a nearly unshakable desire to do black & white gingham cafe curtains - tailored flat panels that just fit within the bottom half of each window. No foofiness. Big gingham - like 1" squares. Would it work? Too twee? Too country? Just right? I also like this. I may need a trip to the fabric store.
Tomorrow we move on to more serious business than painting. We're going to talk about mommyhood and how it changes over time. I have much to say. Stay tuned.
ok, that is a really lovely yellow. perhaps that's what i should paint my office when aaron clears out his cave.
oh, wait...

The new colors look great! Do you already have some gingham? It wouldn't be hard to drape some over the current ones and check it out.

I agree about just trying out a bit of the fabric first. Can you buy a yard or two and just drape it over to get an idea? It wouldn't be a huge investment and if you decide to not use it, then it can be put into a quilt or other project at some point.
Before we had drapes in our living and dining room, I used to hang big long strips of crepe paper in different colors. Long enough to meet the floor and tie back. I tried out many colors to get an idea of what I would like.
Because I knew it would be a while before I could afford the drapes, I sometimes would change out the colors to match the season or maybe a birthday party decor. Silly, I know, but it was kind of fun to do. The kids loved it.

Maybe we should Gocco some curtains. That would be fun.

How about a strip of Lotta at the top and gingham below? I do love a black/white/yellow combination.
